4th DRINKS WORKSHOP – SEP’15
4TH AFJ-RIPE DRINKS WORKSHOP with our New Mixologist Jamaica!
The best way to start our blog is by posting our latest workshop experience on 29th Sep’15.
It was not new for me organizing workshops. I did a couple of those, back when I was working in a hotel. Basic Bartending, simple cocktail tasting workshop. But, those involve alcohol, spirits and liqueurs. For AFj, it was totally different because we focused mainly on mocktail, which for me is even harder to do, on a bartender’s point of view. Some barmen can be good in cocktails, but not in mocktails, because first of all, you have nothing to experiment with, only syrups, purees and juices. So it was very challenging.
My preparations focused on 2 main objectives;
- Promote our uniqueRipe Soursop Puree and Ripe Pink Guava Puree and 1883 Orchid Syrup
- Train cafe and restaurant owners and staff alike with basic bartending because we felt the need for it.
We wanted to offer our clients not just premium products but services as well. We saw the great demand for mocktails in cafe and restaurants, but the lack in training will defeat the purpose. So we really focused in encouraging the staff to try our products and mix it into mocktails, who knows, the combination may be good and can be included in their menu. It will create the pride in their team members as well.
We didn’t really focused much into the finer details like cocktail history but more importantly, we focused into something even more beneficial for the team members. Letting them try to mix their own creations, playing around with ingredients and exploring. When we started the mixology by you part of the workshop, everyone was so excited and there was so much energy in each and everyone, so I was really happy that somehow I have shared with them my love for bartending.
For the 5th workshop, which will happen somewhere in February next year, We are going to design an even more in-depth workshop, to meet the growing demands not just the bar community but for the whole F & B industry as well. YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US!
